The opportunity

Nordea needed a strong narrative to communicate its sustainability strategy both internally and externally. The work was to crafting a story that reflects the bank’s leadership in tackling the climate crisis, environmental degradation, and social inequality.

The process

We worked closely with Nordea to define the key messages and themes at the core of their sustainability work. Together, we shaped a narrative that goes beyond compliance, focusing on purpose, transparency, and the bank’s unique ability to influence change at scale. The process included multiple workshops aligning communication with Nordea’s internal culture, strategic goals, and customer expectations.

The outcome

As part of our collaboration with Nordea, we created a foundational communication strategy for their sustainability initiatives, designed to resonate across both internal and external audiences. At the heart of this strategy are clear narrative pillars that support consistent messaging in content, campaigns, and stakeholder communication. The narratives purpose is to positions Nordea as an active enabler of positive change and aligns with their ambitious 2025 goal to double sustainable financing. The narratives purpose is to positions Nordea as an active enabler of positive change and aligns with their ambitious 2025 goal to double sustainable financing. The focus outlines not just why Nordea is acting, but how - through actions like doubling sustainable financing by 2025.

To ensure consistency, we grounded the stories and messaging in the six dominant ESG approaches Nordea uses including ESG integration, thematic investments, and impact investing.
